Dr. Douglas Stephenson graduated from West Texas A&M University with a B.S. degree in Chemistry, and then received his D.O. degree from The University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Amarillo, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Diplomate of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Stephenson`s professional career has included: Private practice in Internal Medicine, multiple positions within the VA Health Care System on a local, state and national level, including Chief Medical Officer in Northern Arizona VA Health Care System, Associate Professor of Medicine with the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler and Associate Professor of Pharmacy with the University of Arizona. He has been the Medical Director of several different Hospice units as well. The last several years he has worked as a Hospitalist, seeing first hand the severe health complications associated with accelerated aging (such as stroke, heart attack, obesity and cancer). He is a Sub-Investigator with his wife, Dr Kenna Stephenson for several clinical research studies in women's health. The Health, Heart and Mind Institute published Dr. Kenna Stephenson’s book Awakening Athena, a recognized text on women's health designed for women and their health care providers, which was released at Amazon.com in 2004.
